It's official: spring is on its way at Orchid Meadows! The wetland in our Cors Caron Fach now features numerous piles of frog spawn, a sign that frogs have thrown caution to the wind and declared an end to the cold months. We are currently working to restore and enlarge our sphagnum bog by raising the water level, achieved by stripping out willow scrub and building a bog dam. In time that should increase the amount of sphagnum moss and encourage plants such as marsh cinquefoil, ragged robin and marsh marigold. Hopefully, the frogs will like it too.
